| Descripción : | El artículo presenta el análisis de una base de datos elaborada sobre la contratación de trabajadores veracruzanos para el Programa Bracero durante la Segunda Guerra Mundial. Contempla la distribución geográfica de los trabajadores reclutados, sus oficios y sus edades; estudia además la relación entre las solicitudes y la intervención de organizaciones sociales, instituciones y personajes políticos. El análisis pretende extraer algunas relaciones entre estos perfiles de la migración, por un lado, y la estructura económica y la movilidad de la población trabajadora en la entidad, por el otro. Concluye con algunas consideraciones sobre el proceso histórico de migración y el fenómeno contemporáneo de éxodo acelerado que tiene lugar en Veracruz Veracruz Braceros during the Second World WarThe article presents an analysis of a data base constructed around the employment of Veracruz workers for the Bracero programme during the Second World War. It takes up the geographical distribution of the labourers who were signed up, their trades, and ages: also it considers the relationship between workers’ petitions and the intervention of social organisations, political institutions and personages. The analysis attempts to tease out relationships between these profiles of migration on the one hand, and economic structure and mobility, on the other. The text concludes with some thoughts on the historical process of migration and the contemporary phenomenon of a mass exodus from Veracruz. |
