dc.description	El presente artículo se circunscribe al análisis de los datos sobre salud recolectados por medio de una encuesta aplicada a personas de 60 años y más de edad, en el distrito de San Antonio de Nicoya, en el año 1983, como trabajo de campo de una tesis de grado de la Escuela de Sociología de la Universidad Nacional (Oses, 1985). El diseño de muestra utilizado constó de dos etapas: selección con probabilidad proporcional al tamaño de los segmentos y selección sistemática, obteniéndose un total de 179 personas mayores de 60 años entrevistadas, quienes constituyeron la muestra. Para el manejo y análisis de los datos se procedió a la confección de tabulaciones cruzadas e índices. Estos índi66 ces se manejaron como variables complejas creadas a partir de las variables específicas proporcionadas por cada una de las preguntas del cuestionario.
dc.description	This article is is limited to the analysis of the health data collected through a survey of people aged 60 years and older, in the district of San Antonio de Nicoya, in the year 1983, as field work for a thesis on degree from the School of Sociology of the National University (Oses, 1985). The sample design used consisted of two stages: selection with probability proportional to the size of the segments and systematic selection, obtaining a total of 179 people over 60 years old interviewed, who constituted the sample. For the handling and analysis of the data we proceeded to the making of tabulations crossovers and indexes. These indi66 ces were handled as complex variables created from the specific provided by each of the questions in the questionnaire.
