dc.description	This paper addresses, in general, the methodological debate on the problem of labor, seeking to underline the importance of empirical research. The author uses ethnographic data on the workers and syndicates of the Southern Peru Cooper Corporation, so as to illustrate the importance of empirical studies in the discovery of social and historical data which increases our understanding of the complex relationships between capital and labor. Similarly, it attempts to correct the erroneous observations on the same workers presented in the work of the American scholar David Becker, where the danger of treating ethnographic research on too superficially is clearly noted.	en-US
dc.description	El presente artículo se dirige en forma general al debate metodológico acerca de la problemática laboral, con el objetivo de subrayar la importancia de las investigaciones de base. La autora utiliza datos etnográficos sobre los trabajadores y sindicatos de la Southern Perú Copper Corporation, con el fin de ilustrar la importancia de los estudios de base en el descubrimiento de datos sociales e históricos que aumentan nuestros conocimientos del complejo de relaciones entre el capital y el trabajo. Del mismo modo, intenta corregir las erróneas observaciones sobre los mismos trabajadores presentadas en la obra del académico norteamericano David Becker, donde se nota claramente el peligro de tratar a la investigación etnográfica en una forma excesivamente superficial.	es-ES
