The present research aims to identify, through Historical Geography and Territorial Debates, the historical-geographical causes behind the peasant land seizures in the Fincas de Palmar Sur de Osa. These Fincas were part of a Banana District, which played a role in the agro-industrial banana production of the Compañía Bananera de Costa Rica (CBCR), a subsidiary of the United Fruit Company. When the CBCR withdrew from the southern region of the country in 1984, it triggered a series of territorial and productive processes that are necessary to understand, to uncover the clues behind the peasant territorial project that persists in the Fincas. This article was developed through a qualitative research approach, which relied on documentary review, conducting interviews with keysocial actors, and fieldwork. These methods were employed to identify four key productive moments aimed at understanding the territorial transformations within the study area.La presente investigación buscó encontrar, a través de la Geografía Histórica y los Debates Territoriales, las causas histórico-geográficas de las tomas de tierras campesinas de las Fincas de Palmar Sur de Osa. Estas Fincas conformaron un Distrito Bananero, el cual formó parte de la producción agroindustrial de banano de la Compañía Bananera de Costa Rica (CBCR), subsidiaria de la United Fruit Company. Cuando la CBCR se retiró de la zona sur del país en 1984, detonó una serie de procesos territoriales y productivos que resulta necesario comprender, con el fin de encontrar las pistas detrás del proyecto territorial campesino que se mantiene en las Fincas. Este artículo se elaboró mediante una investigación cualitativa, que tomó como base la revisión documental, la elaboración de entrevistas a actores sociales clave y el trabajo de campo, para identificar cuatro momentos productivos clave para comprender las transformaciones territoriales del área de estudio.
