Multisited ethnography, digital ethnography: reflextions about the extensions of fielworkd and reflexivity

dc.description	In this work I develop a reflection on the idea of Multisited Ethnography proposed by George Marcus and I suggest extending it to the digital world. Research is based on a field experience conducted between 2003 and 2008 in order to understand the modalities of identity politics of Mapuche activists in Argentina and Chile. The first step in the research was to find in the internet the enunciation of Mapuche identity politics, analyze and interpret texts , images and sound. I identified the media practices and participated as part of the audience, I also witnessed the articulation of a collective group in an imaginary unity. Later on, I found a way to follow the activists in the global community and access some events organized by them. With the material found on the web, the marks of the militants´ presence in global sanctuaries, co-productions and alliances with ecological and human rights networks and my own field records I formed a constellation of support points to account for the articulation between the global and the local with the specificity it has achieved in the construction of the cultural activists.	en-US
dc.description	En este trabajo desarrollo una reflexión en torno a la idea de Etnografía Multisituada propuesta por George Marcus y planteo su extensión al mundo digital sobre la base de una experiencia de campo realizada entre 2003 y 2008 para comprender las modalidades de hacer política de identidad de activistas Mapuche en la Argentina y en Chile. El primer paso de la investigación fue reconocer en Internet un lugar de enunciación de las políticas de identidad Mapuche, y analizar e interpretar ese corpus de texto, imagen y sonido. Identifiqué en esa instancia las prácticas mediáticas y participé como audiencia, testigo de la articulación de un colectivo constitutivamente múltiple en una unidad imaginaria. Luego, en una segunda instancia y para no quedar encerrado en la cultura web, encontré una manera de seguir a las y los activistas por la aldea global y de acceder a algunos de los eventos que organizaron. Con el material depositado en la web, las marcas de la presencia de los y las militantes en santuarios globales, las coproducciones y alianzas con las redes ecologistas y de derechos humanos, y mis propios registros de campo, conformé una constelación de puntos de apoyo para dar cuenta de la articulación entre lo global y lo local, con la especificidad que ésta ha asumido en la construcción de los y las activistas culturales.
