| dc.description | Between 2015 and 2016 a team of teachers, graduates and students of social anthropology carried out collaborative research in seven prisons with the highest inmate population in Uruguay. The objective was to learn about the use and circulation of psychoactive substances in those spaces and the narratives associated with “drugs”. In the course of the experience we found that the conditions of confinement posed ethical questions in relation to ethnographic work: how to participate and understand the “space of the other” when it is deeply marked by everyday structural, gender and institutional violence? How to think a relational space in which the interlocutors –including us– occupy such asymmetric positions of power? In this article we develop some reflections on time, inequalities, violence and the implications of “being there”, from different fieldwork situations. | en-US |
| dc.description | Entre 2015 y 2016 un equipo conformado por docentes, graduados y estudiantes de antropología social llevamos a cabo una investigación en las siete cárceles de mayor población del Uruguay. En base a un abordaje metodológicamente colaborativo, el objetivo fue conocer sobre los usos y circulación de sustancias psicoactivas en esos espacios y las narrativas asociadas a “las drogas”. En el transcurso de la experiencia descubrimos que las condiciones de encierro nos colocaban interrogantes de orden ético en relación al quehacer etnográfico: ¿cómo participar y comprender el “espacio del otro” cuando está profundamente signado por violencias estructurales, cotidianas, de género e institucionales? ¿Cómo pensar un espacio relacional en el cual los interlocutores -incluidos nosotros- ocupan posiciones de poder tan asimétricas? En este artículo proponemos algunas reflexiones sobre el tiempo, las desigualdades, las violencias y las implicancias del “estar ahí”, a partir de distintas situaciones del trabajo de campo. | es-ES |
