dc.description	The article examines the implementation of the Mercosur Residency Agreement in Ecuador based on an ethnographic analysis of the State and of the immigrants who have applied to this instrument popularly known as the ‘Mercosur visa’. Theoretically the case of analysis is seen from the lens of the anthropology of the State, understanding this not as a monolithic, but as a multicentered, disaggregated and translocal institution that takes on a tangible shape in daily bureaucratic practices, as well as in speeches and interactions with immigrants. The article analyzes such bureaucratic practices in the main cities, Quito and Guayaquil, and in Lago Agrio: a border town.	en-US
dc.description	El artículo examina la puesta en marcha del Acuerdo de Residencia MERCOSUR en Ecuador a partir de un análisis etnográfico al Estado y a los inmigrantes que han aplicado a dicho instrumento conocido popularmente como la ‘visa Mercosur’. A partir de entender que el Estado no es un ente monolítico y meramente ideológico sino que adquiere forma tangible en las prácticas cotidianas burocráticas, en los discursos e interacciones con los inmigrantes, el artículo analiza dichas prácticas burocráticas las cuales difieren de alguna manera entre lo que ocurre en las ciudades principales como Quito o Guayaquil con las prácticas en una ciudad de frontera como Lago Agrio.	es-ES
