RESUMEN: Este artículo es resultado de una reflexión académica sobre el presumible carácter de inconmensurabilidad de los actos atroces ejecutados por los paramilitares sobre la población civil. La reflexión gira en torno al dolor de la víctima y la crueldad del perpetrador en un entramado simbólico que desborda cualquier aproximación racional. De igual manera, se explora la relación del testimonio del sufriente y el análisis del científico social que, por sus limitaciones discursivas no satisfacen los desafíos morales, políticos, emocionales y estéticos que el mal, en su expresión abyecta, impone.ABSTRACT: This article is the result of an academic reflection about the immeasurability of the atrocious acts inflicted on the civilian population by paramilitaries in Colombia. The reflection revolves around the pain of the victim and the cruelty of the perpetrator, which are weaved together within a symbolic framework that exceeds any rational approach. In the same way, this article explores the connection between the victim’s testimony and the social scientist’s analysis. Both, the analysis and the testimony, due to their discoursive limitations, are unable to satisfy the moral, political, emotional, and aesthetic challenges that Evil, with its abject way of manifesting, imposes.
