| dc.description | Se analizan las publicaciones de Uhle referentes al precerámico en el litoral árido de Chile, destacándose su fundamental influencia en la arqueología regional como a su particular marco teórico. El juicio autoritativo del sabio alemán contribuye decisivamente al descubrimiento y a la legitimación científica de lo que sería la principal "estación paleolítica" de Chile. No obstante, mientras que la doctrina tipologista establecida por Uhle condujo al estancamiento final del debate paleolítico en los años 70, su reconocimiento y definición del espectacular complejo funerario "Chinchorro" ha mantenido su valor y cobrado nueva vigencia con hallazgos e investigaciones recientes. | es-ES |
| dc.description | Uhle's pioneering publications on the North-Chilean preceramic are analyzed with respect to their lasting influence on regional archaeology as well as to their particular theoretical framework. The German scholar's authorative judgement was decisive in the discovery and scientific legitimation of Chile's main "paleolithic" site, thereby establishing the typological paradigma for preceramic archaeology in Chile. But whereas this approach would finally fail with the collapse of the paleolithic debate in the 1970's, Uhle's remarkably precise definition of the spectacular "Chinchorro" funerary complex has remained fundamental to current research on the subject. | en-US |
