| dc.description | This article illustrates how the third Peronist government, specifically its Plan Trienal, developed a new approach to the issue of consumption that departed from previous government policy and even from postwar Peronism. With the aim of stimulating income redistribution and increasing savings without disturbing the balance of payment, the Peronist government sought to wean the country from imitation of foreign consumption patterns. In doing so, the Trienal Plan placed special emphasis on upper and middle class consumption. While this approach shared some aspects in common with economists such as Prebisch and Ferrer, the main findings presented here suggest a direct link between these ideas and the debates around development styles. In Latin America, Oscar Varsavsky and the scientists gathered around the Fundación Bariloche were particularly active in those debates, arguing against the analysis presented by the Club of Rome. | en-US |
| dc.description | El artículo muestra que el tratamiento del consumo durante la tercera presidencia de Perón, específicamente en el plan Trienal, presentó novedades significativas en relación con la tematización ejercida por los gobiernos previos y el peronismo de posguerra. Frente al desafío de articular la redistribución progresiva del ingreso con un proceso acelerado de acumulación sin estrangulamiento de divisas, una de las respuestas ensayadas consistió en cuestionar la imitación de pautas de consumo suntuario extranjeras, por parte de los sectores de altos y medianos ingresos. Si bien esta dimensión fue planteada por Raúl Prebisch o Aldo Ferrer, se argumenta que este abordaje del problema del consumo se vincula con los debates sobre estilos de desarrollo que emergieron entre fines de los sesenta y principios de los setenta. El capítulo latinoamericano de estos contó con intelectuales como Oscar Varsavsky y los científicos que brindaron alternativas a las proyecciones del Club de Roma. | es-ES |
