dc.description	Modernity has interested various intellectuals from various disciplines, including those who are responsible for the design of buildings. However, how was it interpreted to be materialized is perceived as such? The growth of Lima real estate market has promoted the construction of new buildings with the largest offer in the south and southwest areas of the city, these so-called modern buildings are gradually replacing the pre-existing ones. Through a qualitative study, two streets with antagonistic facades in Lince, Jesus Maria and Santa Beatriz neighborhoods were compared to investigate how young adults interpreted this change in the city. It was revealed that their interpretation of modern was dissociated from what promoters put forward and a questioning of modern as a synonymous of progress for the city. It is concluded that building modern buildings does not make a modern city and to improve it, first, it is necessary to question if modernization is necessary.	en-US
dc.description	La modernidad ha interesado a diversos intelectuales de distintas disciplinas, entre ellos los que se encargan del diseño de los edificios. Sin embargo, ¿la manera en la que se interpretó para ser materializada es percibida como tal? El crecimiento del mercado inmobiliario limeño ha promovido la construcción de nuevos edificios cuya mayor oferta corresponde a la zona sur y suroeste de la ciudad. Estos edificios, denominados como ‘modernos’, vienen reemplazando paulatinamente a los prexistentes. Mediante un estudio cualitativo, se compararon dos calles con fachadas antagónicas de los barrios de Lince, Jesús María y Santa Beatriz para indagar cómo los jóvenes adultos interpretaban este cambio en la ciudad. Se reveló que su interpretación de lo moderno se disociaba de lo expuesto por sus promotores y se cuestionaba lo moderno como sinónimo de progreso para la ciudad. Se concluye que construir edificios modernos no hace una ciudad moderna, y para mejorarla, se requiere cuestionar primero si el camino de la modernización es necesario.	es-ES
