| dc.description | RESUMO O estudo analisa os possíveis efeitos do projeto da Petroquímica Suape em construir um Polo Petroquímico de Poliéster no estado de Pernambuco. O trabalho busca verificar se o empreendimento é caracterizado como Polo de Crescimento, segundo a teoria da Polarização de François Perroux. O polo de crescimento é visto como centro econômico dinâmico de uma região, que tem a capacidade de modificar o ambiente geográfico ao qual está instalado e a estrutura interna da economia. Suas implicações na região consistem: em uma população mais produtiva, especializada; as empresas mais inovadoras, e, o espaço territorial convertido num centro de acumulação e crescimento progressivo. Pelas características apresentadas, observou-se que a estruturação do Polo Petroquímico se enquadra no âmbito da teoria do polo de crescimento, pois seus efeitos condizem com a referida teoria. ABSTRACT A PETROQUIMICA SUAPE AND ECONOMY OF PERNAMBUCO The study examines the possible effects of the project to build a Petroquímica Suape Petrochemical Polyester in the state of Pernambuco. The work aims to verify whether the enterprise is characterized as a growth pole, according to the theory of polarization of François Perroux. The growth pole is seen as a dynamic economic center region, which has the ability to modify the geographical environment in which it is installed and the internal structure of the economy. Its implications in the region consist of the most productive in a specialized, the most innovative companies, and the geographical area converted into a center of accumulation and progressive growth. By the characteristics presented, it was observed that the structuring of Petrochemical fits within the growth pole theory, because its effects are consistent with that theory.
