| dc.description | RESUMO O papel de Tobias Barreto no contexto da emergência da reflexão sociológica no Brasil no último quartel do século XIX oscila entre o alegórico e o ideológico. De um lado ele é visto como uma caricatura emblemática da silhueta do intelectual dos novecentos e de outro é tido como ideólogo da anomalia política do Império. A análise da costura entre os elementos históricos, biográficos e suas implicações na seleção de seus pressupostos intelectuais no que tange a este autor, nem sempre alçaram o status de explicação crível. Este artigo vem fornecer elementos para pensarmos essa tessitura e permitir, com isso, situarmos de forma fidedigna a contribuição e a singularidade de Tobias Barreto à recepção e reelaboração das explicações sociológicas no Brasil dos novecentos. ABSTRACT TOBIAS BARRETO AND SOCIOLOGY IN BRAZIL The role of Tobias Barreto in the context of the emergence of sociological thought in Brazil in the last quarter of the nineteenth century oscillates between the allegorical and ideological. On the one hand he is seen as emblematic of a cartoon figure of the intellectual and other nine hundred is considered the ideologue of the political anomaly of the Empire. The analysis of the seam between the elements historical, biographical and their implications in the selection of their intellectual assumptions with respect to the author, not always lifted the status of explanation credible. This article is to provide elements for thinking and allow the fabric, thereby situating reliably the contribution and uniqueness of Tobias Barreto reception and reworking of sociological explanations of nine hundred in Brazil.
