| dc.description | RESUMO Este artigo, componente de uma pesquisa em andamento, analisa o perfil e as mudanças ocorridas no Comércio Informal do Centro Expandido do Recife, no período pós-1990, e tece comentários a respeito de algumas intervenções feitas pelo executivo municipal nesse período. Nele são abordados, ainda sem o devido aprofundamento, os conflitos gerados pelos diferentes interesses que se escondem sob o véu da questão social, os quais dificultam a ação dos agentes públicos incumbidos da organização desse comércio, cujo nível de complexidade aprofundou-se nos anos mais recentes. ABSTRACT INFORMAL TRADE IN THE EXPANDED CENTER OF RECIFE This article, which is part of an ongoing search, aims to show how the informal trade is distributed in the expanded Center of Recife scoring some research verified from the 1990s. Throughout the article two aspects call attention: first, the deepening of the complexity that surrounds this activity and makes it possible to hide (under the veil of the social question) other reasons responsible for its expansion. second, the swing attitude of the municipal public power, which sees itself pressed by the dilemma that results the two antagonistic forces – on one hand the popular appeal and on the other the pressure exerted by social segments that require a city well cared for.
