Este artigo é o relato de uma experiência de pesquisa com entrevistas orais com padres da Arquidiocese de Mariana-MG. Através das entrevistas, buscávamos compreender os motivos pelos quais a Arquidiocese de Mariana-MG se mostrava mais receptiva às ideias da Teologia da Libertação na década de 1990, momento em que a cúpula da Igreja Católica procurava diminuir o ativismo político do catolicismo. Os contatos com os entrevistados e os momentos das entrevistas foram os pontos mais difíceis e também os mais interessantes e complexos de nosso trabalho. Pretende-se neste artigo explicitar esta experiência, que nos revelou um discurso “institucionalizado” e revelou o interesse dos atores sociais em manter um discurso rigidamente estruturado, de acordo com o interesse institucional em que estão inseridos. Palavras-chave: igreja católica; discurso institucional; oralidade. This paper consists of an account of a research with thematic interviews with priests from the Archdiocese of Mariana – MG. Through the interviews we sought to comprehend the reasons why the Archdiocese of Mariana – MG was more receptive to the ideas of the Liberation Theology in the 1990’s in a period when the Catholic Church cupola was seeking to diminish the political activism of catholicism. The contact with interviwed and the moment of the interviews were the most dificult and also the most interesting and complex points of our work. What we intend with his paper is to make explicit this experience of research the revealed an “institucionalized” dicourse, demonstrating the interests of the social actors in maintaning a coherent and rigidly structured discourse, in accordance with the institutional interest to which they belonged.
