A complexa teia que envolve a urbis contemporânea termina por transformá-la em locus privilegiado de contradições e ambigüidades, resultante, entre outras coisas, do sentimento de intolerância nutrido pelo Outro, aqui representado por três moradores de rua da cidade do Recife. Para melhor compreender o processo de exclusão a que estão submetidos tais moradores, optou-se por um itinerário intelectual que utiliza a metáfora como ferramenta metodológica capaz de promover a urdidura entre a imagem e a ação; um operador cognitivo que dar a ver a cartografia cultural múltipla que caracteriza toda e qualquer metrópole. Trata-se, na verdade, de trabalhar com premissas que expressam a filiação do estudo em questão com uma lógica que considera, também, as bifurcações, ambivalências, incertezas e inacabamentos na construção do conhecimento científico. Palavras-chave: intolerância; Recife. The complex web that involves the contemporary urbis leads to transform it in a contradictory and ambiguous privileged locus for research. This locus results, among other factors, from the felling intolerance for the Other, here represented by three street inhabitants in Recife city. To better comprehend the exclusion process in which are insert these inhabitants, it chooses a intellectual itinerary that uses metaphor like a methodological tool to make a construction between image and action; a cognitive operator that gives and sees a multiple cultural cartography that characterizes all and any metropolis. It relation to work with premises that states this survey’s filiation to a logic to be considered also with bifurcations, ambivalences, uncertain and unfinished things to construction of the scientific knowledge.
