dc.description	This article analyzes how Black/Afro-descendant intellectuals have used negrismo and negredumbre as self-classifying categories of identity during the first half of the 20th century in the Spanish-speaking areas of Latin America. The study allows us to draw a comparison with negritude, one of the most popular categories in current scholarly work, but which, as a concept and movement of cultural affirmation, only entered Black/Afro-descendant intellectual discussions in Latin America in the 1970s. Reviewing these discourses helps comprehend that negritude was considered a foreign concept, with different socio-historical tensions, and that within Latin America, Black/Afro-descendants had already adopted other concepts to classify their own identity.	en-US
dc.description	Este trabajo tiene como objetivo analizar el negrismo y la negredumbre como parte de las categorías que los intelectuales negros/afrodescendientes de las zonas hispanohablantes de América Latina utilizaron como conceptos de autoadscripción durante la primera mitad del siglo XX para reflexionar sobre su identidad. Su estudio nos permite contrastarlas con la negritud, una de las categorías más conocidas y utilizadas en investigaciones actuales, pero que como concepto y movimiento reivindicativo entró en la discusión de los intelectuales negros/afrodescendientes de la América Latina de habla hispana recién en los años setenta. La revisión de estas discusiones permite comprender que la negritud fue entendida como un concepto concerniente a otra geografía y otras tensiones sociohistóricas, y que en esta región del continente los negros/afrodescendientes ya había adoptado otros conceptos para dar cuenta de su autoadscripción identitaria.	es-ES
