dc.description | In this article the author reports some peculiar practices which in Southern Italy used to be applied to protect childhood. Such practices implied placing upon children's body magic-religious objects, which referred to Christian symbolism and/or to magic. In particular, the author focuses her work upon an object called "abitino" (scapular), investigating how its meaning evolved by the time. By analysing the variety of its configurations and the paths of its development, the "abitino" shows the features of a cultural heritage with all its anthropological implications. | |
