Descripción:
The article approaches, from an ethnographic perspective, the main economic and cultural transformations in apiao island (Chiloé, south of Chile), during the last four de cades, from the penetration of the international market of seaweed in the area. it further examines the emer gence of a discursive-symbolic conflict between the local actors, associated to the implementation of such market.
