A qualitative approach on maternity deaths in the Tizimin Municipality in Yucatan, Mexico. We present in this ar- ticle the main qualitative results collected in our inter- views with mothers undergoing maternal care and about women that died by maternity causes in the municipal- ity of Tizimin in Yucatan (Mexico). The objective was to identify some socio-cultural causes of mothers dying that could be modified through intervention. This study was focused on three thematic axes: a) maternal health needs; b) knowledge and practices on maternal health; and c) knowledge of maternal risk. In the conclusions we draw some recommendations for improving inter- vention, diminishing the socio-cultural inequality and reducing maternity deaths in Tizimin.
