Violence in Mexico: explanations and the lack of them. The present violence, especially homicides, in printed media and Mexican academic articles focuses on: a) organized crime, male violence against women and youth violence related to gang involvement; b) there is little coverage of infanticide, violence against senior citizens, blood vengeance, torture of all kind, especially for political and police violence and unconsented ster- ilization of men and women; c) there is even less cover- age of the explanations of organized crime, economic and labor issues, impunity and corruption; and d) the poor coverage of cultural and ideological aspects and the subjectivity of persons involved in homicides. This article describes the economic and labor issues related to violence highlighting the absence of symbolic dimen- sion and subjectivity of social actors in articles dealing with homicides.
