dc.description At a time of evident crisis in values, it is important to seek cultural references if not in tradition, then at least in current social developments. In recent decades, social movements have become protagonists in the drama of channeling the social, political, and cultural claims to legitimacy of diverse collective consciences, in one way or another rescuing them from the inexistence of a cultural framework. Not all of them have followed a trajectory marked by established rules... Some have mimicked the context from which they seek to escape, re-creating a corpus of supposedly distinct beliefs, access to which is permitted by means of initiation processes we call rites. Politics takes ample advantage of the act of sharing symbols in order to keep followers united. Nationalist exaltation elevates them to the category of "behavioral norms."
