: the disability is a social construction and the perceptions, will generate conceptions that will influence in attitudes towards the person with disability. From that budget, it is necessary to work with the theme from the Child Education and one of the ways to do that work is using literature. As a result, practical activities of reading strategies were obtained, with the book Esta es Silvia and understanding the perceptions of 4-year-old children of a Municipal School of Early Childhood Education of a city in the interior of São Paulo on physical disability, before and after reading that book. To do this, we used as a methodological procedure: conversation wheels and designs made by children before and after reading strategies activities. It was verified that in addition to enabling reading strategies, the book in question made it possible to alter perceptions of children of 4 years on physical disability, bringing positive information on the subject. Partindo desse pressuposto, é necessário que se trabalhe com a temática desde a Educação Infantil e uma das formas de realizar esse trabalho é utilizando da literatura. A partir disso, obtiveram-se realizar atividades práticas de estratégias de leitura, com o livro Esta é Sílvia e compreender percepções de crianças de 4 anos de uma Escola Municipal de Educação Infantil de uma cidade do interior de São Paulo sobre a deficiência física, antes e após a leitura desse livro. Para isso, utilizou-se como procedimento metodológico: rodas da conversa e desenhos elaborados pelas crianças antes e após as atividades de estratégias de leitura. Foi possível verificar que além de possibilitar estratégias de leitura, o livro em questão possibilitou alterar percepções de crianças de 4 anos sobre a deficiência física, trazendo informações positivas sobre a temática.
