| dc.description | This article presents an alternative vision of the debate on the Cartesian dualism of mind and body. It is argued that the Cartesian dualism of substances does not serve to explain the human condition, which is notably marked by the compound mind and body. In this way I will try to show that the passions or emotions responsible for our mental states are derived from the interaction between the mind and the body, and can in no way be reduced to the mind or body taken separately. They are properties that emerge, in the heterodox sense of the term emergence, from the relation of the mind to the body. | en-US |
| dc.description | O presente artigo tem como objetivo central apresentar uma visão alternativa para o debate sobre o dualismo cartesiano mente e corpo. Nessa perspectiva, vou sustentar a tese que o dualismo de substâncias cartesiano está presente apenas na metafísica cartesiana e não serve para explicar a condição humana, marcada, notadamente, pelo composto mente e corpo. Desse modo, vou procurar mostrar que as paixões ou emoções, responsáveis por nossos estados mentais, são decorrentes da interação entre a mente e o corpo e, de modo nenhum, podem ser reduzidas à mente ou ao corpo tomados separadamente. Elas são propriedades que emergem, no sentido heterodoxo do termo emergência, da relação da mente com o corpo. | pt-BR |
