| dc.description | This work is an approximation to a deeper analysis of Peru’s trade negotiations processes, with the aim to develop a medium term negotiation’s strategy.Through the document, the importance of World Trade Organization’s negotiations is outlined because, on one hand, there are increasing interrelations and interdependencies among trade negotiations of the Doha Round, the Free Trade Area of the Americas (FTAA) and the probable Free Trade Area with the United States (FTA-US); and, on the other hand, WTO’s negotiations face greater difficulties which are reflected on the road towards the Ministerial Meeting of Cancun in September 2003.Furthermore, the document presents probable settings of negotiation and predicts that, from the FTA-US negotiations or a FTAA, Peru would only achieve greater market access conditions, but deeper trade rules would only be obtained in the framework of the WTO.Finally, elements that should contain a medium term negotiation’s strategy are outlined | en-US |
| dc.description | El presente trabajo es una aproximación a un mayor análisis de los procesos comerciales a los que pertenece el Perú, con miras a desarrollar una estrategia de negociaciones de mediano plazo.A lo largo del documento se demuestra la importancia de las negociaciones de la Organización Mundial del Comercio (OMC) en la actualidad. En el nivel externo, por las cada vez mayores interrelaciones e interdependencias que existen entre las negociaciones comerciales de la Ronda Doha, del Área de Libre Comercio de las Américas (ALCA) y un probable Tratado de Libre Comercio (TLC) con Estados Unidos; y, en el nivel interno, por las cada vez mayores dificultades que enfrenta el proceso de las negociaciones en la OMC y que se reflejan en el complicado camino que existe hacia la Ministerial de Cancún, en setiembre de 2003.Asimismo, se plantean escenarios de negociación que hacen prever que de las negociaciones de un TLC con Estados Unidos o del ALCA solo se obtendrían mayores condiciones de acceso a mercados, mientras que las normas comerciales más profundas solamente se lograrían en el marco de la OMC.Finalmente, se esbozan elementos que debería contener una estrategia de negociaciones de mediano plazo. | es-ES |
