| dc.description | Quase 50 anos atrás, Hélio Oiticica homenageou com duas obras de arte o seu amigo Cara de Cavalo, um bandido morto pela polícia em 1964, depois de uma caçada humana espetacular. Este artigo investiga o contexto deste assassinato, focando na polícia brasileira que estava sendo reformada desde antes do golpe civil militar de 1964, a fim de combater os “inimigos internos”, esquerdistas ou bandidos comuns, como parte de uma política de segurança internacional para conter o comunismo.Palavras-chave: polícia, segurança internacional, golpe civilmilitar de 64. Abstract Almost fifty years ago, Helio Oiticica homaged with two works of art his friend Cara de Cavalo, a bandit killed by the police in 1964 after a spectacular manhunt. This article investigates the context of this killing focusing the brazilian police that had been remodeled since before the civil military coup d’état of 64 in order to combat the ‘internal enemies’, leftlists or common outlaws, as part of an internacional security policy of communist contention.Keywords: police, international security, civil military coup d’état of 64.
