dc.description	Este trabalho visa contribuir para a discussão sobre as determinações econômicas, políticas e institucionais que engendraram o serviço público de transportes coletivos na cidade de São Paulo na primeira metade do século XX, quando se assinala a passagem do serviço dos bondes elétricos para o serviço de ônibus. Foram identificados os principais agentes que participaram da conformação desse serviço, ressaltando-se o papel da empresa Light and Power Company. Foi realizado um histórico visando resgatar a gênese e as determinações das transformações ocorridas na regulação do serviço de transportes públicos que surgiu em âmbito privado e acabou sendo estatizado. Um outro objetivo do trabalho foi de assinalar as transformações urbanas que acompanharam o processo de transformações no serviço de transporte coletivo. A interpretação feita mostra a “publicização privada” dos transportes coletivos de São Paulo,, e também como o serviço no período analisado foi permeado por práticas clientelistas.	pt-BR
dc.description	This work aims contribute in the discussion on the economic, political and institutional determinations that engendered the public service of collective transport in the city of São Paulo in the first half century XX, period in which the tramways were shifted by bus line’s. They were identified the main agents who took part in the conformation of this service, pointing out the Light and Power Company role´s. A historical was done aiming reach the genesis of the process and it was done to understand the transformations ocurried in the service regulation´s, that started as a private service and it converted in a state service. Another goal was to mark the main urban transformations that accompanied the transformations in the collective transportation service´s. The analysis shows un “privated publicization” in collective transport service´s and also it shows that the service was permeated by clientelists practices.	en-US
