| dc.description | This article aims to reflect on the influence of modernization and development theory in hegemonic rural sociology until the decade of 70s. I will try to demonstrate how such logic of thinking and practice was crucial for the definition of the function and the object of rural sociology in its diffusionist phase. Function of predominantly technical character, where the one who explains confuses itself with the one who instrumentalizes, and definition of the object in terms of residual marginality –cultural and value delay – incoherent with the action standards of modern society. The advent of a new rural sociology come along with a real explicitation of the inherent contradictions of the instrumental interest of modernization theory, however, the same logical approach continues to permeate explanations and interventions related to agrarian question. It is because of this substantive persistence of the technicist character of development projects that the critique of developmentalism-marginalizing must remain as a central task of rural sociology. | en-US |
| dc.description | O presente artigo pretende refletir sobre a influência da teoria da moderniza- ção e do desenvolvimento na sociologia rural hegemônica até a década de 1970. Tentarei demonstrar como tal lógica de pensamento e prática foi crucial para a definição da função e do objeto da sociologia rural na sua fase difusionista. Função de caráter predominantemente técnico, onde aquele que explica se confunde com aquele que instrumentaliza, e definição do objeto em termos de marginalidade residual – atraso cultural, valorativo – incoerente com os padrões gerais de ação de uma sociedade moderna. O surgimento de uma nova sociologia rural dá-se junto à explicitação real das contradições inerentes ao interesse instrumental da teoria da modernização, porém, a mesma lógica de abordagem continua a permear explicações e intervenções relativas à questão agrária. É por esta persistência substantiva do caráter tecnicista dos projetos de desenvolvimento que a crítica ao desenvolvimentismo-marginalizante deve manter-se como tarefa central da sociologia rural. | pt-BR |
