| dc.description | Durante muito tempo, as Cortes, em Portugal, foram estudadas como uma instituição jurídica. Contudo, tal perspectiva esgotou-se, e, hoje, devemos estudá-las e entendê-las como uma instituição política, inserida nos quadros em desenvolvimento do Estado português nos séculos XIII e XIV. As Cortes derivam-se da antiga Curia Regia, órgão que assessorava os reis peninsulares. Na segunda metade do século XIII, através de inovações que foram sendo incorporadas à instituição, a Curia se transformou em Cortes. Neste artigo, estudamos algumas questões relativas à representatividade das ordens sociais nas Cortes, nos séculos XIII e XIV, com destaque àquelas ligadas aos concelhos e suas relações com o poder régio. ABSTRACT Representativity and Power in the Portuguese "Cortes" in the 13th and 14th Centuries: The People's Presence For a long time the Cortes in Portugal were seen as a legal institution. However this perspective has been overcome and today we must study and understand them as a political institution, in the framework of the development of the Portuguese state in the 13th and 14th centuries. The Cortes stem from the ancient Curia Regia, a body that advised the kings of the Iberian Peninsula. In the second half of the 13th century, through innovations that have been incorporated into the institution, the Curia became Cortes. In this paper we study issues relating to the representation of social orders in the 13th and 14th centuries Cortes, especially those connected to the municipalities, and their relations with the royal power. | pt-BR |
