| dc.description | This paper tackles Otto Brunner's work about the Ganzes Haus from the twofold perspective of conceptual history and political philosophy. Its purpose is not to test the validity of a presumed model -the "whole house- hold"- in relation to different fields of empirical facts, but to shed light on the critical tools that Brunner gave us in order to understand the past and reflect upon the present. Against Reinhart Koselleck's perspective -which sets up a continuous line between ancient and modern concepts on the basis of formal categories- , Brunner's conceptual history emphasizes the Trennung with the classical era above all. The critical awareness of the radical rupture introduced by Modern Age, allows us to demarcate the limits of those concepts that still organize all human and social sciences -from economy to history- , and, paradoxically, it predisposes us to listen to the lessons that come to us from the Ancients. By showing the incapacity of modern concepts to understand the sources from the past, Brunner reveals, at the same time, their failure in apprehending the problems of our present. In this way, his historical work revives some unavoidable philosophical issues that allow us to question the future of modern politics and to open the field for a political reflection that takes the risk of thinking government’s function and justice's place, beyond the sovereign State and representative democracy. | en-US |
| dc.description | Este artículo aborda el trabajo de Otto Brunner en torno a la Ganzes Hausdesde una óptica histórico-conceptual y filosófico-política. Su objetivo no es verificar la validez de un presunto modelo, la “casa grande”, en relación con diversos ámbitos de hechos empíricos, sino echar luz sobre los instrumentos críticos que Brunner nos ofrece para comprender el pasado y pensar el presente. En contra de la perspectiva de Reinhardt Koselleck, la cual establece un plano continuo entre conceptos antiguos y modernos sobre la base de categorías formales, la historia conceptual de Brunner acentúa ante todo la Trennungcon la antigüedad. La conciencia crítica de la ruptura radical introducida por la modernidad permite medir los límites de aquellos conceptos que siguen estructurando todas las ciencias humanas y sociales, desde la economía hasta la historia, y nos predispone de manera paradójica a escuchar la lección que nos llega de los antiguos. Mostrando la incapacidad de los conceptos modernos para entender las fuentes pasadas, Brunner revela al mismo tiempo su insuficiencia para aprehender los problemas de nuestro presente. Su trabajo histórico hace resurgir, así, cuestiones filosóficas ineludibles, que permiten interrogar el futuro de la política moderna y abrir, así, el espacio para una reflexión política que tome el riesgo de pensar la función del gobierno y el lugar de la justicia, más allá del Estado soberano y de la democracia representativa. | es-ES |
