dc.description	Th.is artiele is a short historical study which analyzes the concept of insularity from the point of view of two countries, Haiti and Dominican Republic. These are separated by a political frontier, which at the same time marks a boundary between two different cultures, one creole, and the other indigenous, and between two geographic systems. Among other things, insularity is perceived not just as a physical fact, but as a consequence of the reigning social practices.	en-US
dc.description	En este artículo se realiza un estudio de corte histórico donde se analiza el concepto de insularidad, según el punto de vista de dos países, Haití y República Dominicana. Ambos separados por una frontera política, que a su vez marca también la diferenciación de dos culturas, una criolla y otra indígena, y dos sistemas geográficos. Entre ellos perciben la insularidad no sólo como un hecho físico, sino como consecuencia de las prácticas sociales imperantes.	es-ES
