dc.description	In Andalucia (Spain), the absense of local labor willing to accept the wages and work conditions offered in the export farming sector, together with the growth of production of hand-harvested fruits and vegetables, has increased the farmer´s dependence upon migrant labor, principally from Morocco. Moreover, a high level of irregular labor in the agricultural sector results from the coexistence of restrictive laws with the employer´s willingness to break the law hiring cheap, flexible, non-unionized and legally defenseless labor, in order to reduce costs and increase economic benefits. At the same time, in an increasingly xenophobic atmosphere, Moroccans live in very precarious conditions which include rudimentary housing where a majority of the migrants reside in overcrowded conditions. Using qualitative methodology, this article analyzes the social situation of Moroccan migrant workers employed in agriculture in Andalucia, a region situated in the south of Spain.	en-US
dc.description	En Andalucía (España), la falta de mano de obra local dispuesta a aceptar los salarios y las condiciones laborales imperantes en la agricultura de exportación, aunada a un aumento en la producción de frutas y hortalizas recogidas a mano, ha incrementado la dependencia de los empresarios agrarios de mano de obra inmigrante, procedente principalmente de Marruecos. Más aún, en el sector agrario un elevado nivel de trabajo irregular es el resultado de la coexistencia de leyes restrictivas y la disposición de los empresarios agrarios de romper la ley a fin de emplear mano de obra barata, flexible, no sindicalizada y legalmente indefensa, con objeto de reducir costos e incrementar los beneficios económicos. Además, en una atmósfera de creciente xenofobia en contra de los marroquíes, las condiciones de los trabajadores agrarios procedentes de Marruecos son especialmente precarias. Asimismo, las condiciones de vivienda son rudimentarias y la mayoría de ellos viven hacinados. Este artículo, fundamentado en una metodología cualitativa, analiza la situación sociolaboral de los trabajadores marroquíes empleados en la agricultura andaluza, región situada en el sur de España.	es-ES
