dc.description	The aim of this article is to explore how social movements become politicized in response to the neoliberal attempt to depoliticize politics. It is argued that the concept of a political community of belonging enriches the discussion on populism in Latin America by considering not only its relationship with democracy, within an analytical framework that goes beyond liberalism, but also the transition of social protest into the political realm. This transition is evident both in the institutional space, through political parties operating within the framework of the state, and in the non-state space, through “societies in movement”. The Chilean uprising of 2019 is a clear example of this dynamic, illustrated by the electoral victory of the institutional left led by Gabriel Boric and the beginning of a democratic constituent process aimed at replacing the 1980 Constitution, inherited from Augusto Pinochet’s dictatorship (1973-1990).	en-US
dc.description	El objetivo de este artículo es explorar cómo los movimientos sociales se politizan frente al intento neoliberal de despolitizar la política. Se sostiene que el concepto de comunidad política de pertenencia enriquece la discusión sobre el populismo en América Latina al considerar no solo su relación con la democracia, en un marco analítico que va más allá del liberalismo, sino también la transición de la protesta social al ámbito político. Esta transición se manifiesta tanto en el espacio institucional, mediante partidos políticos que operan en el marco del Estado, como en el espacio no estatal, a través de “sociedades en movimiento”. El estallido chileno de 2019 es un claro ejemplo de esta dinámica, ilustrada por la victoria electoral de la izquierda institucional liderada por Gabriel Boric y el inicio de un proceso constituyente democrático destinado a reemplazar la Constitución de 1980, heredada de la dictadura de Augusto Pinochet (1973-1990).	es-ES
