In tension with an analytical framework that deals with the significant changes that contemporary cities are experiencing, and that might endanger the ideal and the materiality of the urban public space, this paper addresses the conflict over the “recovery” of public space held between 2005 and 2009 by members of the orchard Orgázmika of Caballito, various administrations of the Government of the City of Buenos Aires and other neighbors. It aims to illuminate on the disputed terrain that image of public space “at risk” may have in a field of tensions over who is or could be its legitimate producer as a source of “pleasure for the community”.En tensión con un marco de análisis que versa sobre los significativos cambios que las ciudades contemporáneas vienen experimentando, y que pondrían en riesgo el ideal y la materialidad del espacio público urbano, este escrito abordará el conflicto por la “recuperación” del espacio público sostenido entre 2005 y 2009 por miembros de la huerta Orgázmika de Caballito, distintas gestiones del Gobierno de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires y otros vecinos del barrio. Se pretende así iluminar la productividad que la imagen del espacio público “en riesgo” puede tener en un campo de disputas por definir quién es o podría ser su legítimo productor, en tanto que fuente de “goce para la comunidad”.
