| dc.description | This paper discusses the discursive whitening of the population of Ceará/ Brazil based on the idea of the Nordic origin of Ceará, a discursive construction that surfaced in late July 2020, when a research commissioned to an American laboratory analyzed the genes of 160 inhabitants of the state and came to the con- clusion that the predominant genetics in the population would be the same as that of the Nordic peoples. When analyzing the question, I seek to place this narrati- ve within a discursive panorama historically monopolized by whiteness, which points to the support of a whitened self-image of the state, which has the effect of minimizing the contribution of non-white groups in the ethnic-cultural constitu- tion of the country Ceará, although population data for the state say otherwise. | en-US |
| dc.description | Discorro, neste artigo, sobre o embranquecimento discursivo da população do Ceará tendo por base a ideia de origem nórdica do cearense, construção discursiva que veio à tona no final de julho de 2020, quando uma pesquisa encomendada a um laboratório estadunidense analisou os genes de 160 habitantes do estado e chegou à conclusão de que a genética predominante na população seria a mesma dos povos nórdicos. Ao analisar a questão, busco situar essa narrativa dentro de um panorama discursivo monopolizado historicamente pela branquitude, o que aponta para a sustentação de uma autoimagem embranquecida do estado, que tem como efeito a minimização da contribuição de grupos não brancos na constituição étnico-cultural do Ceará, embora os dados populacionais relativos ao estado digam o contrário. | pt-BR |
