Based on field research with Sulâliyyât women in Morocco, who are fighting for their right to collective property, this paper highlights their profound attachment to their land. The conclusions of this research call into question the image of submissive women, that has been cast upon them by an ethnocentric anthropology. Sulâliyyât women do not define themselves as being cared for, but rather active participants, and in charge of their household's economy.Fundamentado em pesquisa de campo com as mulheres sulâliyyât no Marrocos, que lutam por seu direito à propriedade coletiva, este artigo evidencia a profunda relação dessas mulheres com a terra. Os resultados desta pesquisa questionam a classificação de mulheres submissas, que lhes foi atribuído por uma antropologia etnocêntrica. As sulâliyyât não se definem como sendo sustentadas, mas sim, como participantes ativas e responsáveis pela economia interna de seus lares.
