The article comparatively investigates the positions taken by the editorials and selected articles from the Revista Brasiliense, a review on nationalist culture and politics published between 1955 and 1964, and the official positions taken by the Brazilian Communist Party (PCB). Justified by the majority presence of activists or former militants from the PCB in the Editorial Board, including Caio Prado Júnior and Elias Chaves Neto, its two most important figures, the comparison demonstrates the organization of an editorial position that distances itself from the pecebist hegemony and approaches an independent, “caiopradian” position, eventually divergent from the partidary position, and executes moves to change the political langue of nationalism.
