| dc.description | Although the first scientific studies whose scope was the understanding of women in Brazilian society began in the 1940s, it is necessary to register that in the context of the reception of sociology in Brazil during the last years of the 19th century and beginning of the 20th century, women were, even though in a shy way, among the interests of those who promoted this process. Tobias Barreto, Tito Lívio de Castro, and Florentino Menezes illustrate this assertion. Forged outside the canons of this science, their immersions in these contexts reveal the resistance they operated to the racial tendency, which dominated until the first decades of the 20th century, and their efforts to disable it. Here, the interest on the situation of women as an object of the reflections consecrated as sociological that operated in Brazil of that context, indicates the moments where the notions of race, and its discursive contributions, begin to lose their force and explanatory power. | en-US |
| dc.description | Embora os primeiros estudos científicos cujo escopo fosse o entendimento das mulheres na sociedade brasileira tenham se iniciado a partir da década de 1940, é necessário registrar que no contexto da recepção da sociologia no Brasil no transcurso dos últimos anos do século XIX e início do XX, elas estiveram, ainda que de maneira tímida, nos interesses daqueles que promoveram esse processo. Tobias Barreto, Tito Lívio de Castro e Florentino Menezes ilustram essa assertiva. Forjados fora dos cânones desta ciência, suas imersões nestes contextos revelam a resistência que exerceram à tendência racial, que dominou até as primeiras décadas do século XX, e os seus esforços para desabilitá-la. Aqui, o interesse sobre a situação da mulher como objeto das reflexões consagradas como sociológicas operadas no Brasil daquele contexto, indica os momentos em que as noções de raça, e seus aportes discursivos, começam a perder sua força e poder explicativo. | pt-BR |
