| dc.description | This article aims to analyze the relationship and applicability of the Export-Led Growth model for the Brazilian economy, from July 1994 to June 2019. In this aspect, we sought to analyze the behavior of the Brazilian economy, in the period that contemplates the 25 years of the Real Plan, through two of the main macroeconomic variables: the gross domestic product (GDP) and exports, monthly. For that, the econometric tests of the autoregressive model (VAR) and error correction (VEC) were applied, in level and in the first difference, in addition to using the methodologies of Granger (1980) and Johansen and Joselius (1990) to estimate whether GDP (proxy for economic growth) and exports would be co-integrated with the first order. The objective was to test the existence of a cointegration between the variables, economic growth, and exports; and identify the causality of the process. It is concluded that the variables are co-integrated, so there is a long-term relationship between growth and exports in the analyzed period. In the short term, the estimated results suggest that both Granger exports cause economic growth and Granger economic growth cause Brazilian exports. Thus, there would be a bicausal relationship in the short term between the variables analyzed. | en-US |
| dc.description | O presente artigo se propõe a analisar a relação e a possível aplicabilidade do modelo de Export-Led Growth para a economia brasileira, no período de julho de 1994 até junho de 2019. Neste aspecto, buscou-se analisar o comportamento da economia do Brasil, no período que contempla os 25 anos do Plano Real, por meio de duas das principais variáveis macroeconômicas: o produto interno bruto (PIB) e as exportações, a partir de uma base mensal. Para tanto, aplicou-se os testes econométricos do modelo autorregressivo (VAR) e de correção de erro (VEC), em nível e em primeira diferença, além de serem utilizadas as metodologias de Granger (1980) e de Johansen e Juselius (1990) para estimar se o PIB (proxy do crescimento econômico) e as exportações seriam cointegrados de primeira ordem. O objetivo era testar a existência de uma cointegração entre as variáveis, crescimento econômico e exportações; e, identificar a causalidade do processo. Conclui-se que as variáveis são cointegradas, logo há uma relação de longo prazo entre crescimento e exportações no período analisado. No curto prazo, os resultados estimados sugerem que tanto as exportações Granger-causam o crescimento econômico, quanto o crescimento econômico Granger-causa as exportações brasileiras. Assim, haveria uma relação bicausal no curto prazo entre as variáveis analisadas. | pt-BR |
