| dc.description | Para Gregorio, el hombre se define esencialmente como un “ser libre”. Esta afirmación la encontramos desde su primera obra, el De virginitate, donde afirma que el hombre, en tanto imagen y semejanza de Dios, posee “la soberana libertad de elección” (tò autexoúsion tês proairéseos). Gregorio sostiene que el hombre solo es verdaderamente libre cuando es el dueño y la causa de sus actos, es decir, cuando posee plena capacidad de autodeterminación. Y, plantea, existen, con todo, una serie de obstáculos que le impiden elegir libremente y “poder alcanzar al objeto verdaderamente deseable” (tó óntos epithymetón). Así, analizaremos los obstáculos a los que se refiere Gregorio y el modo de solución. Tales obstáculos pueden ser clasificados en dos grandes grupos: internos y externos. | es-ES |

Gregory maintains that man is truly free only when he is the owner and cause of his acts, that is, when he possesses full capacity for self-determination. And, he argues, there are, however, a series of obstacles that prevent him from freely choosing and “being able to reach the truly desirable object” (tó óntos epithymetón).
