| dc.description | Las siguientes reflexiones acerca de los meandros del género literario que a partir de la obra de Goethe llamamos Bildungsroman se inician con una disquisición acerca de las traducciones posibles de este rótulo. En mi opinión, la corriente etiqueta de “novela de aprendizaje” viene de su formulación francesa, pues como en muchos otros conceptos de la cultura alemana o rusa ha sido Francia siempre la intermediaria. En honor a la verdad, dado que es el proceso de enseñanza el que se enfatiza en las aventuras del personaje Wilhelm Meister, podría pensarse que la traducción castellana más ajustada podría ser la de “novela de educación” o “novela de formación”. Por otro lado, el hecho de que el héroe de este género haya sido siempre un varón lleva a pensar cuál habrá sido la estratagema femenina para sortear ese escollo de género (esta vez sexual). Para ejemplificar esta “treta del débil” echo mano aquí a una novela temprana de Virginia Woolf (Fin de viaje) y al segundo tomo de la autobiografía de Simone de Beauvoir titulado La plenitud de la vida. | es-ES |
| dc.description | The following reflections on the meanderings of the literary genre that we call Bildungsroman on the basis of Goethe’s work begin with a discussion of possible translations of this label. In my opinion, the current label of “apprenticeship novel” comes from its French formulation, since as in many other concepts of German or Russian culture, France has always been the intermediary. To tell the truth, since it is the teaching process that is emphasized in the adventures of the character Wilhelm Meister, one could think that the most accurate Spanish translation could be that of “novela de educación” or “novela de formación”. On the other hand, the fact that the hero of this genre has always been a male leads one to wonder what the female stratagem might have been to overcome this gender obstacle (this time sexual). To exemplify this “trick of the weak” I use here an early novel by Virginia Woolf (The Voyage Out) and the second volume of Simone de Beauvoir’s autobiography entitled The Prime of Life. | en-US |
