| dc.description | This article reflects on the literary experience within the institution of “carabineros” by two chilean authors, Armando Méndez Carrasco and Luis Rivano. For this, it is proposed to analyze the literary biography and the work of both under the concept of eccentricity, understood as a category that accounts for the ambivalent position in their activity as “carabineros” and writers (“pacos” and novelists) as well as the oscillating social situation that they embody the leading characters of their novels, which move towards the margin but from a vision of the middle class. | dc.description | Este artículo reflexiona en torno a la experiencia literaria al interior de la institución de carabineros por parte de dos autores chilenos, Armando Méndez Carrasco y Luis Rivano. Para ello se propone analizar la biografía literaria y la obra de ambos bajo el concepto de excentricidad, entendido este como una categoría que da cuenta de la posición ambivalente en su actividad como carabineros y escritores (“pacos” y novelistas) así como la situación social oscilante que encarnan los personajes protagónicos de sus novelas, los cuales transitan hacia el margen pero desde una visión propia de la clase media.
