| dc.description | This article studies the political policing displayed by the Dirección General de Investigaciones, Identificación y Pasaportes since the arrival of the Popular Front to power until the death of the President Pedro Aguirre Cerda, moment in wich this coalition was already crumbled. We will put our attention in how this police operated with left and center parties in power and wich changes was introduced in this institution, on one hand, and wich elements, expected or not, remained in years where social and political conflicts (strikes, plots) were not absent. We will see how the civil police worked between the demand to protect order and at the same time to mark a clear cessation of a trajectory marked by illegal acts and a constant run over to rights and freedoms of opponents. | en-US |
| dc.description | Este artículo estudia la labor político policial desarrollada por la Dirección General de Investigaciones, Identificación y Pasaportes desde la llegada del frente Popular al gobierno hasta la muerte del Presidente Pedro Aguirre Cerda, momento en el cual esta coalición ya se encontraba desmoronada. Pondremos atención a cómo esta policía operó con partidos de centro e izquierda en el poder y qué cambios se buscó imprimir en ella, por un lado, y que elementos, esperada o inesperadamente, permanecieron en años donde los conflictos sociales y políticos (huelgas, complots etc) no estuvieron ausentes. Veremos cómo la policía civil se desenvolvió entre las exigencias de tutelar el orden y al mismo tiempo la de marcar un claro cese de una trayectoria institucional caracterizada por actos ilegales y por un atropello constante a derechos y libertades de los opositores. | es-ES |
