dc.description	Under the framework of social semiotics, the article analyzes the symbolic motif of the small rhea or ‘Patagonian ostrich’ expressed in the choyke purun, a Mapuche dance representing the behaviors of this species, non-existent in Araucanía. The mimetic performance shows the identification of the Mapuche with the motives of nature, but through a deterritorialized reference, alien to the context of enunciation. By analyzing various contextual chronotopes, we show the marks of transculturality in the evolution of this migrant symbolism, its movements, variants, transformations, and identity applications. The research method applied was the case study. The data show the antiquity, continuity, diversity, and increasing complexity of intercultural relationships engraved in the history of such a symbolic expression. Through both the linguistic and semiotic boundaries of the peoples of Patagonia, the choyke purun transits into modernity to settle down within the canon of Mapuche culture.	en-US
dc.description	El artículo analiza desde la perspectiva de la semiótica social el motivo simbólico del ñandú petiso o ‘avestruz patagónico’ expresado en el choyke purun, danza mapuche que representa los comportamientos de esta especie, inexistente en la Araucanía. La performance mimética muestra la identificación de los mapuche con los motivos de la naturaleza, pero a través de una referencia desterritorializada. A través del análisis de diversos cronotopos contextuales, mostramos las marcas de transculturalidad en el devenir de este simbolismo migrante, sus desplazamientos, variantes, transformaciones y usos identitarios. El método de investigación empleado es el estudio de casos. Los datos muestran la antigüedad, continuidad, diversidad y creciente complejidad de las relaciones interculturales que registra la historia de esta expresión simbólica que transita hasta la modernidad a través de las fronteras lingüísticas y semióticas de los pueblos de la Patagonia, para instalarse dentro del canon de la cultura mapuche.	es-ES
