dc.description	Asia was reborn as a continent with great productive, commercial, and innovation capacities that have impacted the international system, thus challenging Colombian foreign policy. Over the last century, the accepted subordination to US global strategic design was the main characteristic of this country’s foreign policy. The objective of this article is to present the requirements that an assertive response implies in face of the Asian global challenge. In this regard, it is argued that, given the size and development conditions of Colombia, a policy towards Asia requires improving its negotiation capacity. This requires a robust Latin American regional integration program. In the domestic context, it is also essential to advance the democratization of the external agenda by enriching the deliberation process via the incorporation of new agents, beyond bureaucratic teams, and the business community.	en-US
dc.description	Cuando Asia renace como un continente con grandes capacidades productivas, comerciales y de innovación que impactan el sistema internacional, la política externa colombiana afronta el reto de revisar su patrón de relacionamiento histórico. En el último siglo, este se caracterizó por la subordinación consentida al diseño estratégico global estadounidense. El objetivo de este artículo es presentar los requisitos que una respuesta asertiva implica frente al desafío global asiático. Se argumenta, al respecto, que, dadas las condiciones de tamaño y desarrollo de Colombia, la política para Asia requiere elevar la capacidad de negociación, lo cual es imposible sin un programa recio de integración regional latinoamericana. En el marco doméstico, asimismo, es imprescindible el avance en la democratización de la agenda externa mediante el enriquecimiento de la deliberación con la incorporación de nuevos agentes, más allá de los equipos burocráticos y el empresariado.	es-ES
