dc.description	The conflict in Colombia for the defense of the Santurbán moorland against large-scale mining has marked the national discussion on the protection of these ecosystems. In 2014, the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development delimited the ecosystem, and in 2017, the Constitutional Court ordered a new demarcation with the participation of the moorland’s population. Based on a fieldwork carried out between 2016 and 2019, and on an extensive documentary review, this paper analyzes the narrative to defend the municipality of Vetas (the one most affected by the delimitation), based on ancestral mining and the recognition of mining not only as an economic activity, but also as a culture. This paper shows the way in which the narrative produced as a result of the socio-environmental conflict aids to make a social category (ancestral mining), a political subject (ancestral miners), and the negotiation of an ecosystem (alternative demarcation map).	en-US
dc.description	El conflicto en Colombia por la defensa del páramo de Santurbán contra la minería a gran escala ha marcado la discusión nacional sobre la protección de estos ecosistemas. En 2014, el Ministerio de Ambiente y Desarrollo Sostenible delimitó el ecosistema; y en 2017, la Corte Constitucional ordenó una nueva delimitación con la participación de las poblaciones del páramo. A partir de un trabajo de campo adelantado entre 2016 y 2019, y de una extensa revisión documental, este trabajo analiza la narrativa de defensa del municipio de Vetas, basada en la ancestralidad minera y el reconocimiento de la minería no solo como actividad económica, sino como una cultura. Los resultados muestran la forma como la narrativa producida a raíz del conflicto socioambiental ayuda a producir una categoría social (la ancestralidad minera), un sujeto político (los mineros ancestrales vetanos) y la negociación de un ecosistema (mapa alternativo de delimitación).	es-ES
