dc.description This article presents a state of-the-art look at the subject of trust in the police. The main objective is to identify the main variables that determine the understanding, analysis and measurement of the level of trust of the society in the police. A systematic search of gray literature and academic documents was carried out, which, after a two-phase filtering process, allowed a total of 169 documents to be included in the analysis. These documents were analyzed by means of the following five categories, all defined inductively: theories on variables that influence trust in the police, objective variables, mixed variables, subjective variables, and police behavior. en-US
