Un estudio de la Fantasía a partir de "El Hobbit" de J. R. R. Tolkien y "Harry Potter y la piedra filosofal" de J. K. Rowling para determinar los componentes del género y las características únicas de la Fantasía. Haciendo análisis a fondo de ambas obras, deconstruyendo la estructura narrativa, los personajes, los elementos mágicos y los simbolismos de las mismas se destilan las herramientas narratológicas y semióticas que componen este género, para dejar a un lado la noción superficial de que si una historia presenta un dragón o un mago automáticamente pertenece a la Fantasía.
A study of Fantasy, using J. R. R. Tolkien's "The Hobbit" and J. K. Rowling's "Harry Potter and the philosopher's stone", to determine the caracteristics and basis that make this genre. An analysis of story structure, characters, magic creatures, symbolism and Secondary Worlds was made, using works of narratology, semiology and structuralism by Joseph Cambpell, J. R. R. Tolkien, Lord Raglan, Iván Martín Cerezo, Robert Crossley, Tzvetan Todorov and Gary K. Wolf to determine the narrative tools in each novel that make what is known as Fantasy. The results were a distinction between "Wonderful literature" and "Fantasy"; the importance of an inner sentimental journey for the main character and the reader, the relationships between every fantastic creature as symbolism with a deeper meaining and the creation of a Secondary World; as well, the study resulted in the creation of new method to recognize if the elements of a story belong to Fantasy or not: fantastic instruments, magical tools or wonderful decorations.
