dc.description	In 1904, the government of Rafael Reyes, divided the great Cauca in several states, this process continued until 1910 when Popayan remained located in the present-day Cauca. This signified the loss of hegemony over the old Sovereign State. The present work objective to show the way as these dominant castes did not only take advantage of the festival of the First Centennial of the Independence, 1910, to build its new identity, its relation with the past, its collective memory, but also for building a kind of adequate time to the new changeless of the 20th century, preferring to invent a glorious past that identified them like an aristocracy related to the better facts of the past, being able to leave the deep crisis, that the separation of the great Cauca carried them.	en-US
dc.description	En 1904, el gobierno de Rafael Reyes, dividió el Cauca Grande en varios Departamentos, proceso continuado hasta 1910 cuando Popayán quedó ubicada en el actual Cauca. Esto significó la pérdida de hegemonía sobre el antiguo Estado Soberano. El presente trabajo objetiva mostrar la manera como estas castas dominantes no sólo aprovecharon la fiesta del Primer Centenario de la Independencia, 1910, para construir su nueva identidad, su relación con el pasado, su memoria colectiva, sino también para construir un tipo de tiempo adecuado a los nuevos desafíos del siglo XX, prefiriendo inventar un pasado glorioso que los identificase como una aristocracia relacionada con los mejores hechos del pasado para poder salir de la profunda crisis a que los llevó la desmembración del Cauca Grande.	es-ES
