| dc.description | The aim of this article is to analyse the figure of the foreigner in the Argentina of the Centenary from the point of view of Ricardo Rojas. This author introduces the problem of the configuration of the national identity and of the State through the representation of “other”. The myth of the “melting pot”, in the thought of Ricardo Rojas, works as a strategy of assimilation- exclusion of the immigrant. On the one hand, the foreigner (in a political sense) appears as an “unexpected enemy” and on other hand, he shows an ability to go through a cultural assimilation in a way that brings a new argentine race. This article shows the atmosphere of the emergency of the “cultural nationalism” and the democracy at the beginning of the20th century in the Argentina. | en-US |
| dc.description | El presente artículo tiene por objetivo el análisis de la figura del extranjero en la Argentina del Centenario a partir de la producción intelectual de Ricardo Rojas. Se presenta el problema de la configuración de la identidad nacional y del Estado-nación a partir de la figura del “otro”. El mito del “crisol de razas” en la obra de Rojas funciona como una estrategia de inclusión-exclusión del inmigrante. Por un lado, el extranjero en sentido político aparece como un “enemigo imprevisto”; por otro, aparece su posibilidad de asimilación cultural para la formación de una nueva raza argentina. Este trabajo intenta mostrar el clima de época de la emergencia del “nacionalismo cultural” y la democracia a principios del siglo XX en la Argentina. | es-ES |
